Crew Darren
Well hello there!
I'm Darren, and in a very general sense I'm going to be writing some stuff for GamesModding.com.
More specifically I've got some tutorials relating to Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars modding that are ready to be posted up, a video tutorial series about getting weapons into Unreal Tournament 3 that is mostly scripted and need recording aswell as some other tutorials in mind.
I've also got some more general articles in the pipeline regarding things like how best to ask for help on a forum (something that often isn't given the consideration it requires).
That's all in the future, so what about the past?
The first thing I ever modded was C&C: Red Alert, rather a long time ago. I made tanks that fired nukes, infantry that fired nukes, turrets that fired nukes - I think it's safe to say I liked making things vanish in large explosions. I didn't really bother with anything else until Red Alert 2 (yeah, I skipped Tiberian Sun) which I modded extensively, releasing a number of public resource assets and a few total conversion mods. My main Red Alert 2 project was/is It Came From Red Alert!, a port/remake of Red Alert. ICFRA! came about purely because I couldn't face playing Red Alert with it's old interface, as I type this post there have been 86480 downloads of the mod across the four versions that have been released plus some more that I lost record of when ModDB changed their site. At the moment nothing is happening with ICFRA! progress-wise, it needs some awkward to make art assets (terrain and structure damaged frames) that I don't have my PC set up to make any more so whether there'll be another release is unknown.
I've also had brief affairs with Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, the Battlefield series, C&C: Generals and the Source engine aswell as a longer stint with C&C3: Tiberium Wars.
More recently I've been releasing content for Unreal Tournament 3 in the form of a few weapons, some maps for the UT2D side scroller mod and some mutators which I release via my ModDB page and pimp via my YouTube page and the Epic Games forums.
This post has gotten excessively long so I'll wrap it up, I look forward to contributing to GamesModding.com in the near future!
